I was so gratified by the strong voter response to my campaign for State Senate in the June primary election. We won every city, both counties and both Assembly districts! Among my 3 opponents, I won 47.8% of the vote from Senate District 9.

I would be honored to earn your vote in the General Election on November 8, 2016.

As a social justice advocate, expert on energy and climate protection and accomplished legislator I will put my experience to work to ensure that all of us have access to high quality, affordable education, safe and healthy communities and a better quality of life – not just for those who can afford it.

We have much good news; the just passed state budget increased funding for our schools and higher ed, and we can celebrate California’s leadership on climate change.

Yet, with gun violence in churches and on our streets, and families struggling due to growing income inequality, the challenges we face are considerable. Challenges I believe we can take on and resolve together, just as we did when I served in the State Assembly.

Working with you to tackle these challenges is what motivates me to become our next State Senator. I hope you will join me.
